Banned, but not by the censors

Fire Many believed that director Deepa Mehta was playing with fire by making a film with that title which depicted a lesbian relationship. The film was released, and this was followed by protests. The only option left was withdrawing it from the theatres. Maybe, this wouldn’t have happened today. But then, who knows?
