Bold films become mainstream in B'wood

'Mastram', 2014: 'Mastram' in the truest sense doesn't fit in this feature. So, why did we mention it? Simply because the the film was a 'fictional biography' of Mastram, a common pseudonym used by God-knows-how-many writers of porn fiction in Hindi in the 70s and 80s. The film tells the story of an aspiring writer who, after having failed to establish himself as a literary writer, starts churning out porn novels as Mastram. Those who watched it came to see a lot of sexual action, having read actual Mastram novels before. When they hardly saw anything, they fled.
