But Ajay Devgn (then Devgan) did have to face a lot of criticism within the industry for his ordinary looks. 1991 was the era of industry children, and although his father Veeru Devgan was a renowned action director, he was absent from the limelight. But Ajay did manage to create a lot of anticipation before his debut film Phool Aur Kaante. To his credit, he made it work too.
