- Which Bollywood foes have turned friends now
Bollywood was not so during the times of Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar and Dev Anand. The trio ruled the box office and was equally popular. There were differences between them but no enmity. The Khan trio has only unpleasantness between one another. Those of us scribes who knew them well were witness to their bonhomie and camaraderie when they got together. It used to be fun to see Raj ji pull Dev Sahab’s leg by talking to him in Punjabi. Dev Sahab was ever so westernized and he preferred to converse always in English. When he spoke in Punjabi, his mother tongue, it smacked of an English accent, thanks to his habitual reliance on the English language. Raj ji would consciously give an English accent to the Punjabi he spoke with Dev Sahab which the latter took sportingly and with a sense of humour. As for Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar they met like brothers and invited each other to view the films they made during post production stages and respected the opinions each gave to the other. In the case of the Khans the relationship between them as colleagues and contemporaries in the profession is so brittle that no one knows when the two friendly Khans, Salman and Aamir, will cease to be the buddies they are at present.
