Bollywood actress Nanda was the only actress in the 1960s and early 70s who excelled equally in playing a coy Indian beauty as well as roles with modern sensibilities. She was born on 8 January 1939 and died on 25 March 2014 following a massive heart attack.She was engaged to filmmaker Manmohan Desai in 1992 but she remained unmarried after his death in a freak accident. She was best known for her performances in films like Ittefaq, Joru Ka Ghulam,Neend Hamare Khwab Tumhare, Kanoon, Pati Patni, Gumnaam, Akashdeep,Bedaag and Raja Saab.She ws the niece of legendary filmmaker V Shantara.Nanda was born in 1939 to Marathi actor-director Vinayak Damodar Karnataki.
