Rocking villains in Bollywood

Vishnu Nagre (Sarkar): If Kay Kay Menon playing Vishnu Nagre in Ram Gopal Varma’s underworld film Sarkar had been allowed to be on the screen for a longer time, one wonders whether Abhishek Bachchan as his brother would have been heard at all. Playing the erring son of a godfather-like character as the protagonist – the film was a tribute to The Godfather anyway – Vishnu faced Sarkar (Amitabh Bachchan, outstanding) with such uninhibited ease that everybody spotted him as an actor who could be cast in powerful roles. That didn’t happen very often.
