- Samay Exclusive: Nanda’s last interview
You started as a child actor. Were you excited when you faced the camera? I did not want to act as a boy. My father had this boy’s role in his film and he thought I could do it . I was very angry that he thought I could pass off as a boy. So for some days I sulked and kept on telling my mother that I won’t play the part. Then I was convinced by both my parents that playing a boy did not mean that I had the look of a boy . My father gave me examples of actors in the silent era who played female parts. I agreed to act. In front of the camera I was confident and spoke my lines without a worry.
