It may be stretching the analogy too far but there is a similar story in the Ramayana where the Guru Vashisht is taking Ram, Lakshman, Bharat and Shatrughan to his Ashram for training. On the way he asks them, "There are 2 paths from here. One is shorter but it is very dangerous while the other is easier but it will take very long." Without blinking an eye Ram opts for the first option. That is what attitude is all about. It’s not meant to show off but is an inherent trait of a person who is willing to take a chance, take that risk.
