- Dhanush welcomed by Bollywood fans
Amitabh Bachchan describes him as an accomplished actor and has high praise for the work he has done in 'Shamitabh'. Down South he has just received a Best Actor award from Anantha Vikatan for Velailla Pattadhari and the trailers of 'Anegan' due for release on February 6th are being avidly watched on television. Dhanush is undoubtedly poised for a great year with three more movies in production moving at a brisk pace to release end of the year if not mid year. If Dhanush appears casual about the national and international attention he is getting it is because attention and success are not new to him. As the younger son of noted Tamil Director Kasthuri Raja and brother of famous Director Selvaraghavan, Dhanush grew up in a household which bustled with film activity and had all the trappings that success begets. At the right time Kasturi Raja, seeing the spark in his son launched him as the leading man of a romantic musical, 'Thulluvadho Ilamai', which fetched good reviews for the debutant actor and made him very popular in the youth segment of Tamil cinema lovers. The film's box office success established Dhanush as promising star material. The real challenge came to Dhanush in his next assignment 'Kadal Kondein' in which he had to portray the complex character of an obsessed lover. Dhanush fulfilled the expectations of his brother Selvaraghavan who directed the off beat romance with rare sensitivity and insight and fondly extracted a praiseworthy performance from his younger brother. Dhanush's next starrer 'Thiruda Thirudi' became the Tamil blockbuster of 2003 and marked his arrival as a hero.
