The famous "Bahu" of Indian Television actress Smriti Zubin Irani started her career with Ekta Kapoor's famous television serial 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi'. Born as Smriti Malhotra, she was the finalist at Miss India pageant in 1997. The role of Tulsi Virani gave a flying start to her career and then there was no looking back for her. In 2003 she joined the Bhartiya Janta Party and contested elections from Chandani Chowk constituency in 2004 and 2009 but lost both the times to Congress leader Kapil Sibal. In 2011 she got elected to Rajya Sabha. Smriti holds the record of winning five consecutive Indian Television Academy Awards for Best Actress (Popular), four Indian Telly Awards, eight Star Parivaar Awards and other awards all for her performance in Kyunki. She is the only actress on Indian Television to have won five consecutive Indian Television Academy Awards. Smriti also played the role of Sita in Zee TV's Ramayan in 2001. Smriti married her childhood friend Zubin Irani in 2001. She bore two kids to Zubin - son Zohr and daughter Zoish.
