Tennis superstar Sania Mirza had been selected to be the next Bond girl by Hollywood. The language and regional press, print and online, News, Sports and Entertainment sections, because this was entertaining news of the Hyderabad's favorite sporting personality, went overboard with stories of this double treat for Sania and Bond fans. Describing it as the tennis sensation's "big screen" debut, the media there went on to stir readers' fantasies with visions of Sania not exactly being the film's heroine-but a typical Bond girl. As if the poster girl of Indian tennis, sexy though she is, was really Bond girl material! There was a lot more gush. Daniel Craig, of course, would play James Bond, Secret Service Agent 007, in the film opposite Sania. The Hollywood production house that approached the Indian tennis Grand Slammer, also hinted that its location scouts were keen to in India! The film would be directed by Sam Mendes from a script by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan. Sania, who had been looking for "the perfect role" to make "a break" in the movie business, was reportedly delighted with the Bond girl offer.
