Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed his condolences at the death of former ISRO chief U.R. Rao.
"Saddened by the demise of renowned scientist, Professor U.R. Rao. His remarkable contribution to India's space programme will never be forgotten," Modi wrote on his Twitter handle.
Rao, Former ISRO Chairman and renowned space scientist, passed away at his residence in Bengaluru around 3 a.m. on Monday after prolonged illness due to age-related health issues.
He was 85.
Rao was conferred the Padma Vibhushan this year. He was the ISRO chairman for a decade from 1984 to 1994.Saharasamay desk For Latest Updates Please-
