'Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad are parts of India': IMD shows PoK areas in forecast Last Updated : 08 May 2020 06:18:52 AM IST Gilgit Baltistan. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday said that it has been issuing weather bulletin for regions in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir -- Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad -- asserting that they are parts of India.
This assumes significance as the country has always stood firm on its position that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir belongs to India.
IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said, "IMD has been issuing weather bulletin for the entire Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh area. We are mentioning Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad in the bulletin as they are the parts of India."For a long time, IMD has been issuing severe weather forecasts for Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal etc. "We were mentioning this information in our national bulletin. For the past two days, we have started mentioning this information in our regional bulletin," he said.
