Tamil Nadu sees 12 more corona deaths, cases surpass 19,000 Last Updated : 28 May 2020 08:11:10 PM IST file pic As many as 827 persons tested positive for coronavirus over the past 24 hours and 12 Covid-19 patients died in Tamil Nadu, the State Health Department said on Thursday.
It also said a total of 639 persons were discharged from various hospitals in the state taking the total to 10,548.Out of the 827 fresh infections, 117 persons have come from other states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Punjab and others.The total number of coronavirus infected persons in Tamil Nadu has gone up to 19,372 and the total number of persons who have lost their lives due to Covid-19 stands at 145. The total number of active cases in the state stands at 8,676.On Thursday, 12,246 samples were tested taking the total to 4.55 lakh. Testing of 565 samples are under process.State capital Chennai with its high density of population continued to see the highest number of new infections at 559, taking its total tally to 12,762.The number of infected children in the age group 0-12 went up to 1,159.
