AAP trapped in his own net Last Updated : 09 May 2017 05:17:39 PM IST (File photo)
Aam Aadmi Party, AAP is in deep crisis. Party convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is facing charges of ‘graft’ by his own man former minister Kapil Mishra. A party made to tackle the sole issue of graft has now started dancing to the tune of graft itself. AAP’s outspoken leader Arvind Kejriwal who is said to be a product of media is now shying away from lenses.
The other AAP leaders, who are interacting with media, too do not have any solid defense. They are only asking for evidence and rubbishing charges against Kejriwal. They are just trying to encash the personal credibility, which Kejriwal has earned so far.
Suspended AAP leader Kapil Mishra, who accused Kejriwal of corruption, is also not coming out with any evidences. All he said is that "he has handed over some sealed envelopes with evidences to ACB and CBI".
Mishra has also twice changed his statements made against Kejriwal. When the ex-minister got sacked, he said he has seen Kejriwal taking money from another minister Satender Jain and next day when he met ACB, he changed the matter and said that Jain has settled Rs 50 cr land deal for Kejriwal's brother-in-law.
We can give benefit of doubt to Arvind Kejriwal as AAP leader Sanjay Singh alleged that Kapil Mishra is playing hand in gloves to BJP and it is the conspiracy of the saffron party to crush AAP.
But still the questions arise why AAP is losing ground in Delhi? Why there are so many graft cases against AAP leaders? Why all those who have left AAP or got sacked from the party always attack the top leadership and that too with graft charges? Why a party which rises out of public agitation is withering away in less then 5 year? Why Arvind Kejriwal is not able to keep the momentum going for AAP?
There can be many answers to this but the most important and relevant one seems to be that AAP has no ideology. They tackle issues as they came and had no pre-notion about important national issues; they just swim with the flow of national sentiments.
They lack commitment. They are the people who came together after Anna’s anti-corruption movement, they started with only one goal i.e. ‘to capture power and eradicate corruption’.
AAP is ambitious bunch of people who want to take power in there hand. They came from a national movement but after tasting power, lack patience to run a movement. They are result orientate people and once their goal is achieved, which was to form a government in Delhi, they remain together for another larger goal, they aim to capture power in other states and dream to form government in center. But their dreams got shattered when they lost the Punjab and Goa Assemble elections.
The restless youth who believe in result oriented politics lost heart. From here disintegration of AAP started and what we are witnessing today is the fight of some ambitious people who are searching for greener political pasture. We can conclude by stating that perception played the main role in rise and now fall of AAP.
