The MP also appealed to the people protesting against the amended Citizens Act (CAA) not to engage in violence and to talk to the government.

 

Gambhir told reporters, "Whatever be the case, irrespective of any party, whether Kapil Mishra or anyone else, action should be taken against anyone who makes inflammatory speeches."

 

Mishra had led CAA supporters at Maujpur Chowk in Zafarabad area on Sunday, following which violence erupted in pro-CAA and anti-group groups. Mishra contested the recently concluded assembly elections on a BJP ticket. Significantly, there was a clash between groups supporting and opposing the amended Citizenship Act (CAA) in Delhi's Zafarabad and Maujpur on Monday.

 

The protesters set fire to several houses, shops and vehicles and threw stones at each other.
