Remove encroachments around Haji Ali: SC to Maharashtra govt Last Updated : 03 Jul 2017 01:53:57 PM IST File photo
The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Maharashtra government to remove encroachments around Haji Ali shrine.
The apex court has granted two-weeks time to the Maharashtra government for the removal. It has also said that the order must be taken with utmost seriousness.
The direction came after the Haji Ali Dargah trust expressed inability in completing the task. The trust had earlier volunteered to remove the encroachments. In April this year, SC asked the Haji Ali Dargah Trust in Mumbai to demolish all encroachments in and around the shrine excluding the mosque standing on 171 sq metres area by May 8.
On May 9, the court had lauded the efforts of the Dargah Trust in its attempts to remove encroachments.Anubha Dhillan For Latest Updates Please-
