The Allahabad Nagar Nigam (ANN) authorities on Sunday night sealed two slaughter houses, which were operating despite a ban order.
Veterinary Officer of Allahabad Nagar Nigam Dheeraj Goel told media on Monday that two slaughter houses -- one in Eidbagh and the other in Atala area of the city -- were closed on May 17, 2016 following an order from the pollution department.
"On Sunday, we got information that some activities were being carried out illegally at these slaughter houses despite the ban. So, we immediately reached the spots along with the force and sealed both slaughter houses again," Goel said.
He said there were three slaughter houses in the city and "all are closed now".
The action came on the day Yogi Adityanath took oath as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
In its assembly election manifesto, the Bharatiya Janata Party had promised to close all slaughter houses across the state.IANS For Latest Updates Please-
