Hindu doctor in Pakistan tortured by PPP leader during local body elections Last Updated : 03 Jul 2022 04:59:17 PM IST According to the Dawn newspaper, a Hindu doctor in the Sindh province Tharparkar district was reportedly tortured by a faction of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party during a local bodies election in Islamkot on June 26.
Doctors and paramedics boycotted work and outdoor patient departments in government health facilities in Mithi, Islamkot, Chhachro, Diplo, Kaloi, Nagarparkar, and other towns.
According to the protesters, PPP leader Ghulam Mohammad Junejo not only insulted and tortured the doctor, who was serving as the presiding officer at a polling station, but also slapped him in front of other staffers and policemen.
They demanded the detention of the vain king and advised that they would continue their token boycott until their request was met.
The Pakistan Supreme Court created a one-man Commission on Minorities Rights, headed by Dr. Shoaib Suddle, and requested a detailed report on the Hindu doctor's torture.
