- Top ten all-time favourite Hindi films
An all-time favourite movie is not one whose impact can be assessed by the amount of money it earned when it was released. Some films such as those of the Jeetendra-Sridevi-Jaya Prada series were huge hits in the late 70s and early 80s. But, not many even discuss them today. If that is the case, what is the real all-time favourite? It is that film which not only received love, respect or both when it was released but is also remembered with fondness. Further, it has acquired some new followers in every new generation. The second kind of all-time favourite is a recent film which promises to have a long shelf life. Samay Live looks at the Top Ten favourites 'Sholay': The biggest all-time favourite. It had the biggest stars – Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Jaya Bhaduri. It had the best characters: Thakur saab, Veeru, Jai, Basanti. And, it had Gabbar Singh, the most popular villain ever played to perfection by newcomer Amjad Khan.
