Researchers say that vocal frequency usually decreases as an animal grows larger. The need to control and monitor elephant populations is evident because poaching, human disturbances, habitat loss and the resulting human-elephant conflict pose serious threats to elephant populations worldwide, researchers said in the study published in the journal Bioacoustics.
