When the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth are aligned in a straight line in a way that the Moon comes between the Sun and the Earth, blocking the sunrays then, we witness a solar eclipse. There are three different kinds of eclipses based on alignment. These are total, partial, and annular eclipse. The solar eclipse that we are witnessing today is an annular eclipse where the Moon is so far from the Earth that it does not fully cover the Sun and leaves the outer rims visible. This creates a 'ring of fire' in the sky.
