LeEco launches two 'superphones' in India

Chinese smartphone maker LeEco, formerly Letv, in Haryana's Gurgaon city on Wednesday launched its two "superphones" -- Le Max and Le 1S -- here for the Indian market. The devices were launched by Atul Jain, the company's newly-appointed chief operating officer (smartphone) for the Indian market. The cost of the phones ranges from Rs.10,999 to Rs.69,999 and can be bought from online shopping portal Flipkart. Le 1S would be put on a flash sale on February 6, the company said. Le Max, which would be available in two colours -- silver and gold -- boasts of 4 GB RAM, 6.3-inch 2K screen, 21 megapixel rear camera and a fingerprint sensor, among other specifications. The phone would be available in 64 GB and 128 GB variants, the company said. Le 1S, however, has a 3 GB RAM, 13 megapixel rear camera and a new Type-C USB charger. The company claimed the phone could last upto 3.5 hours on a single five-minute charging. "We have entered the market to make an internet ecosystem which can be amazingly fast and at the same time affordable," Jain told media persons. "In the next one year, we aim to be among the top three mobile companies in the Indian market," he added. He said that the company was planning to sell its phones offline also. "We would consider that as the demand grows." Both the phones sport a full-metal body. Earlier this month, the company had showcased in a select preview event, a series of its smart devices, including 3D helmet, Bluetooth headphone and super cycle. LeEco, which claims affordable devices to be its unique selling point, live streamed the event on Facebook to get an "overwhelming audience response".
