In 2005-2006 :A defiant testimony before a five-judge panel in Baghdad, Saddam Hussein goes on trial for the killing of 148 people in 1992. He tells the court he will not recognize its authority because he views it as a pawn of the American "aggressors." It is the first of two trials that Mr. Hussein will face before he is executed in December 2006
