Hiroshima remembers the dark day

In Hiroshima, 60 per cent of those who died on the day of the attack are believed to have been killed by burns, around 30 per cent by falling debris and about 10 per cent by other causes. The US military estimated that about 4.7 square miles of Hiroshima were destroyed by the bomb blast, with the Japanese recording that nearly 70 per cent of the city's buildings had been destroyed.
