- Ford launched Endeavour at Rs 24.75 lakh
After Mercedes Benz India and Mahindra Rise, it is Ford India's turn to launch their all new Ford Endeavour in India. After much speculations of the launch date, the American car makers have finally launched the big machine for Rs 24.75 lakh (ex showroom, Mumbai). Nigel Harris, President and Managing Director, Ford India said, "For an automotive brand, the best way to begin the year is to launch a new product and that is what we are doing with all new Ford Endeavour. It will set a new benchmark in the SUV segment. Also known as Ford Everest, in the International market, the all new Ford Endeavour gets an update almost after three years since its launch in 2003. Moreover, the all new Ford Endeavour comes with major cosmetic and mechanical changes, a good news for all Ford lovers. Anurag Mehrotra, Executive Director, Ford India said," The all new Ford Endeavour is built tough with ultra-high strength steel and first-in-class 7 airbags, including one for even driver's knees. With the new Ford Endeavour, we are bringing to India the second generation of Ford's voice-activated connectivity system, SYNC 2 and recognises over 10,000 different voice commands." Harris added, "In 2015, we fulfilled our Product Excellence promise with 2 brand-new products, compact sedan Figo Aspire and hatchback new Figo. Today's launch is another stellar example of our Product Excellence Promise with all new Ford Endeavour." Mehrotra added, "The SUVs advanced Terrain Management System or TMS maintains Ford's fun-to-drive DNA whether on-road or off-road. It will help you tackle any obstacle, on road or off, at the turn of a dial, maximizing traction and stability." Talking about the growth in the SUV segment, Harris said, "From a modest 500 to just over 5,000 in 2010 to an impressive 18,000 units in 2015, the premium SUV segment has grown exponentially. Today the young achievers are looking for a vehicle that helps them take on challenges, not only on weekdays but also on weekends, hence, there's a need to introduce an SUV that's a perfect vehicle for such achievers, meets all their needs and delivers a lot more." The all new Ford Endeavour now looks like a proper full blown SUV rather than a pickup truck with a cab mounted on the back of it. The front sports a butch hexagonal three slat grille with Mustang-esque headlamps on either side and flared wheel arches. The rear, however, comes across as a bit underwhelming with simpleton tail lamps with a chrome strip with the car's name running between the two sides. The car sits on brushed aluminum diamond cut 20-inch wheels adorning 265 section tyres. The 20-inch wheels will not be coming to India and expect the car to sport extra high-profile tyres. The upcoming Ford Endeavour will come with two engine options and two variants- a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder TDCi diesel engine churning out maximum power output of 157bhp and maximum torque of 385Nm, mated to both six-speed manual and automatic transmission. Moreover, the 2.2-litre diesel engine will be offered with a choice of 2WD and 4WD, while the 3.2-litre diesel engine will be offered with only 4WD and will come in Trend and Titanium variants. The all new Ford Endeavour gives an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 14.12 km/l for the 2.2L MT, 12.62 km/l for the 2.2 AT and 10.91 km/l for the 3.2 AT AWD.
